Interview with Monterrey Under + solo performance by millan

Category: Blog, video

About a week ago I did an interview for the online magazine Monterrey Under.

They came to my studio and we talked about some very interesting things. They will publish the whole thing soon, but here’s an excerpt of it.

Since we were in my studio and the keyboard was right in front of me, it felt very natural to play a couple of songs, so here they are! Enjoy them!

Once Again

Hello Madness

Thanks a lot to Monterrey Under for the great support that you are to the music scene!

Meet the Mad Manager! by millan

Category: Blog

I’d like to introduce you to the person behind every evil move towards world domination with Hello Madness haha

Her name is Lucinda and she has been working with me as my manager for a while now. She’s a very nice person and she has helped me A LOT with this wonderful journey. She’s also a great singer/songwriter, so we’ll probably collaborate together in the future.

Please give her a warm welcome :)

Many people have asked me to put the lyrics of the album online. They are in the booklet of the album, but I thought it might be a good idea to put them here. So….

Go with the flu by millan

Category: Blog

With all the media attention drawn to the swine influenza, I kinda feel in the mood of writing my thoughts about it. It’s really weird to see what this is doing to people’s minds.

I won’t even try to make an analysis of the effects of this flu on the economy, its true origins, or talk about the conspiracy theories that are being sent via email. I just want to say that I find very odd the way people is reacting; everyone wearing masks, empty streets for days, nobody shaking hands… it’s like suddenly I woke up in a completely different world… hello madness!

I must say I really liked the city for a few days. There were no traffic at all (which is something I hate with all my heart), no long lines in stores (except for supermarkets, cause people were preparing for the apocalypse), no schools (I live in front of one, and it gets very crowded in the morning)… so, I enjoyed myself those days.

Of course, there were some things that weren’t cool at all. A few recording sessions and gigs had to be canceled. Bars, restaurants and movie theaters were closed. But I managed to survive hehe

Anyway, my message is: don’t panic. Most probably, you won’t get sick if you follow the basic cleaning habits. And if you do, it won’t get too bad if you get medical assistance on time. Fortunately, I don’t know anyone who got sick and I hope it stays that way. But I think there’s no reason to freak out or change your regular habits.

Just go with the flu… ;-)

Good times by millan

Category: Blog

This weekend I got some pictures from a concert at Café Iguanas (big thanks to Luis Montemayor) and it made me think that I never commented here on that specific gig.

Alejandro Millán

First of all, the line up was formed by Javier Garagarza (from Elfonía and now Elevador) on drums and Muela Trujillo (from Elevador too) on bass. They both did a great job! Thanks for the huge effort!

Javier Garagarza Muela

Another thing to mention is that this gig was on October 31th… so you can imagine that there were some people with strange outifts. But the crazyest stuff was outside the venue… streets were flooded by all sorts of people in weird customs, we could barely get the gear out of there. I wish I had pictures of that, cause it definitely made an impression on me. So, for the first time I didn’t have to change my outfit to go out on the street. I just fit in perfectly! hehe

Anyway, there are a couple of gigs confirmed for May. So I hope to see you guys there! ;-)

Songwriting thoughts… by millan

Category: Blog

Since the album came out I’ve kept on playing and comming up with new ideas for more songs, but nothing really specific; just satisfying my musical instinct hehe

I have always thought that the most gratifying experience for a musician is moving on to a new phase. The world evolves, people evolves… so music does! And that’s really the most fun part of being an artist, you have the opportunity to redefine yourself on each piece.

Having said that, for the last couple of weeks I’ve been trying to write music from a different perspective than I have. And I thought… hey, different results require a different process! So I decided to use my acoustic guitar to write my new songs. The results have been fantastic and so refreshing to me that I’m probably gonna use this approach for the whole next album.

Please do not be missleaded by this information. THERE ARE NO PLANS AT ALL TO INCLUDE ANY GUITARS on the next album ( sorry guitar players, maybe next time ;) )

On stage again! by millan

Category: Blog

well well well…

Here we are playing live again! It feels sooo good!

Alejandro Millán

This gig was a bit different though.

For starts, we played with a new drummer. Escama, a good friend and talented musician. You rocked man! There will be more gigs together for sure.

Escama

Another different thing was venue. It was the Old School Volks Back 3, a event of cars that also hosted a rock festival. Unfortunately, the stage wasn’t very accessible and people had to walk a lot to see the bands. To be honest, I thought no one would show up at the stage haha, but they did… So, thanks to everyone who did go there to enjoy the music!

Pablo González

There are a couple of more gigs confirmed which will be posted shortly, and if you want to get us playing in your city you can contact me and I’ll do as much as I can ;-)

Also many thanks to Estesia for contributing with these pics!!!
